Welcome to CALA: The Center for Accelerated Language Acquisition! We are the official language training center of the University Honors College at Middle Tennessee State University. 

At CALA, we use methods like TPR (Total Physical Response) and TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling). What does that mean? It means our classes are based on brain research, making learning a natural, engaging, and fun experience! 

So, if you want to learn a language quickly and easily, this is the way!

*** We offer American Sign Language (ASL), Spanish, French, Mandarin (Chinese), and Tamil (a language in Southern India) online as asynchronous telecourses.***

We do not offer English as a Second Language (ESL) courses, but the TN Language Center has an ESL program and Murfreesboro’s Read to Succeed offers free ESL classes and practice.
