Jie (Helen) Zhou

Jie (Helen) Zhou has been a TCSL (Teaching Chinese as a Second Language) teacher since her graduation from Henan University in 2010.  Her first and perhaps the most formative experience teaching Chinese came immediately after graduation in Nakhon Ratchasima (Thailand), where she taught Chinese to more than 400 students in one of its public middle schools.   It was here that Helen learned the value of engagement and active learning.

At the end of 2013, Helen came to Murfreesboro, Tennessee, where she started working for the Confucius Institute of Middle Tennessee State University (CIMTSU).  Part of her job at CIMTSU is teaching Chinese language and culture to students at the Homer Pittard Campus School.  Helen enjoys ongoing learning about teaching and is pleased to be able to teach Chinese using TPR and TPRS at the CALA Language Institute.
